Professor Sujata Mohanty

Driven by a passion for translating scientific discovery into meaningful patient outcomes, Professor Sujata has dedicated their career to advancing stem cell research and regenerative medicine.

Since 2005, they have led the Stem Cell Facility at AIIMS, focusing on research involving adult and embryonic stem cells derived from sources including bone marrow, umbilical cord tissue and skin follicles. Their work has also expanded into induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology and its applications in disease modelling and drug discovery.

Professor Sujata currently leads a multidisciplinary team within the AIIMS cGMP Stem Cell Facility, which has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence. Under their leadership, the facility has established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards for the production of clinical-grade stem cells, supporting the translation of stem cell research into therapeutic applications.

Their research and leadership continue to be guided by a commitment to innovation, scientific excellence and the development of novel therapies that have the potential to improve patient care and outcomes.
